"A retired psychiatric nurse, grandfather of three, a bushwalker 65 years young, out to fulfil a lifelong ambition to cycle around Australia..."

Unfortunate Circumstances Strike…

Train home...Unfortunately, John has had to end the trek prematurely. In his words:

Image, left: John’s ride home. Not quite a bike, but a great deal faster…

“Yesterday I have reached Ayr, North Queensland about 80 kms South of Townsville. It took me 37 days to ride 2218 kms from Sydney.

Due to my wife’s recent ill health I have been forced to make returning home the No.1 priority.

I have struggled with the decision for the last few days and chose to make the move before turning West from Townsville.

I accept that it needed to be done.

Thank you to all who have been reading my website and supported me along the way.”

Incredible achievement John. I’ve never driven that far let alone cycled. Hope all is well.
